On March 26th, 1948, Qumya was ethnically cleansed based on the
orders of Yosef Weitz (a Jewish National Fund official). Weitz wrote
in his diary about the inhabitants of Qumya and al-Tira
in the Baysan valley:

According to the Palestinian historian Walid Khalidi, the village remaining structures on the village land are:
"The whole site is fenced in. Almond, mulberry, and pomegranate trees and cactuses grow around the rubble that dots the village site. Cypress trees grow among the ruins of the village school. "
