If you are aware of any potential refugees from other towns whom we can interview in Jordan, please contact Mr. Rakan Mahmoud at +962-79-661-5275 with your information. Currently, we are pressed hard to interview people from towns that we have not yet covered, your help is CRITICAL since time is our main enemy.
Help preserving our history and culture for future generations. To make it easier on you, we have authored a training manual and a list of questions. We suggest studying these two documents carefully, then use any available technology (such as video camera, digital recorder, or even regular tap recorder) to retain Nakba Oral History as much as you can. Once done, we will be more than happy to post your work at the site after crediting you completely for your work.
We are in need of people who have the time and patience to carefully listen to what is spoken in the interviews, and to rephrase it to traditional Arabic (Fus-haa). Then the manuscript has to be typed in Arabic text, which later should be translated to English. It should be noted that you will be COMPLETELY credited and your work shall be published next to each transcribed interview.

سلام خاص للسيد:ابو حسين وزوجته ام حسين واتمنى لهم طول العمر.
وبهالمناسبة بحب اقدم لهم قصيدة للوطن. فالوطن له مكانة عالية في النفوس ولدى الجميع فهو المكان الذي ولدنا فوق ترابه وعشنا تحت سمائه...واتمنى ان عجب السيد ابو حسين عند قراءتها:
غنيت حبك يا وطن
ولثمت بحروفي سماك
وعشتك اكثر من زمن
وسقيت من عروقي ثراك
انت الابو وانت الولد
وانت التغرب والبلد
وانت الشدائد والرخا
أموت وتاريخك خلد
عنيت حبك يا وطن
نبعك شرابي في الحياة...

ما أجمل أن نرى في عشيرتنا التي تمثل حالة رائعة من صمود شعبنا مناضلاً كالعم أبو حسين شحادة الشملوني الذي أمضى طول حياته مستذكرا بلدته الصغيرة التي تمثل قصمة انتماء وصمود ولنا الفخر في هذا البطل وكل الاحترام للمرأة الفلسطينية التي وقفت مع زوجها في رحلة المعاناة الطويلة .
